The author F. Damon Guinn or Damon was born and raised on the west side of the Motor City - Detroit, Michigan surrounded by a league of
serious Black business people including his own parents - Freeling Guinn, jr and Shirley Jo Guinn. He's a 70s baby all the way down to roller skating and vibing off good music. Detroit is the greatest
city in the United States. Damon grew up enjoying a fun fulfilled childhood of a loving family, great friends and dedicated Christian
service -- WORK
Attending one of Detroit's many phenomenal schools Cass Technical High School and one of the top tier Black universities in the country
Howard University in our nations capitol. Graduating with honors and riding scholarships all the way home, baby!
The joy of writing was his epiphany at a tender age. Daydreaming in his basements secret lair, admiring his own love of short poems written on Valentine day candy treats for his classmates.
Joyous remembering the discovery of the truthful nature of the job of writing. Recognizing the artform is less of a status symbol and more labor intensive.
Chuckling at the quesy sensation in his gut he experienced while attending a social function at a young age
and after proclaiming to be a writer, he was asked what had he written. At that time in his life the answer was not one word.
Forty years later 'Let's Hear it for the Boy!' His premier work to date - Ready Set Go is a testament an expression of pure gratitude to
God for life and equipping him with the strength and laughter to overcome the many obstacles in our world.
An optimist, (he must be the greatest dancer) and a true explorer, he has traveled the globe, residing in numerous culturally rich countries such as central America and of course magnificent Africa.
Always learning and still a student of the art of writing, Mr. Guinn is inspired daily by the perserverance of peoples of all colors
and creeds in this life of wonderment and change.
The book Ready Set Go is the first acknowledgement of what Damon understands as a labor of Love and the first book of the author. He welcomes and prays that you find enjoyment in the work, encouraging your own knowledge to provide him with critiques of the words you read.
